Funmilayo Faniyi FC recorded 1 – 0 win over Adeyanlu FC In a thrilling encounter on Monday in the ongoing Adeboruwa Cup being played at the United African Methodist Primary School, Igbogbo. The lone goal proved decisive, sending Funmilayo Faniyi FC ahead in the tournament.
The match was marked by moments of skill and determination from both teams. However, a crucial mistake by Adeyanlu FC’s captain in the last minutes of the game cost them the match ultimately.
In the second encounter of the day, Agunfoye FC secured a well-deserved 3–1 victory over Oseni FC in a thrilling and interesting match that made the spectators’ evening a fulfilled one.

Both teams started the second game with great energy and determination, drawing loud cheers from the spectators who filled the school’s field.
In the other match, Oseni FC opened the scoring early in the first half, taking advantage of a defensive mix-up from Agunfoye. However, the joy was short-lived as Agunfoye FC quickly regrouped and equalised before halftime.
In the second half, Agunfoye FC completely dominated possession and displayed superior teamwork, netting two more goals to seal the win. Their attacking flair and solid defence left Oseni FC struggling to regain control of the game.

“It was truly a wonderful game, and winning this match feels like a big success for us. Honestly, the expectations for this game were very high, but with God on our side, we were able to show great teamwork and secure the victory. I’m happy that we’ve qualified for the next stage of the competition.”

He described his performance that earned him the man of the match as great for his team.
“Scoring that goal was a great moment for me and for my team because it came at the right time — it was the goal that sealed our win. We all deserved this happiness, and I’m grateful to our fans who were there supporting us all through. Their energy really kept us going.”
Anthony Ayanwago , Adeyanlu FC’s player, reflecting on the game, lamented the loss that caused his team’s exit from the tournament.
“The match was okay, actually. It’s just that during the die minute, there was a silly mistake from our captain.”
